Why not? The larger diagonals, of which this certainly is one, at 18.1 inches, are supposed to rival the look of traditional tubes. Not so?

I don't really care for them, tubes just seem better to me, and they are usually much more expensive then CRT monitors.

And I would be the first to agree with you if we were talking about a basic laptop screen, sure. But this is an 18" non-portable serious business LCD... supposedly these things are a long way off from your basic laptop LCD.

Why did you ask for our opinion if you don't like our responses? Have you used this monitor? I HAVE! LCD monitors are not that good for gaming, in fact, I'd rather have a CRT for anything! I've seen TONS of monitors, whether they're mine or not. My favorite is either the Mitsubishi DiamondPro 2040u or that nice 24" Sony. I was going to get a 24" but, as I've said before, I am in love with my Mitsubishi

Oh come on, you don't want to sell me on why not, even a little?
Have you used this monitor? I HAVE!
This very same monitor? Now we're talking.

Cool. That's all I was after. I haven't used an LCD. My understanding was they were comparable to crt's. You've set me strait. That's all I was after...

Here's the thing...
The dot pitch is a little bigger, and you only have one decent resolution on an LCD. Personally I game at a lower resolution than I like my desktop at. That's killer #1. Killer #2 is that you can't get 1600x1200, and how much are you paying for this biggie?
The other thing that I don't have a technical explanation for is the slight blur. When doing High Speed 3D rendering (3D Gaming) there's this blur. It's really slight, but it's there.
Don't get me wrong. If you're doing cad or something the screen is sweet. I've sold a bunch to architects and the like. but not gaming. Not yet at least.
My $.02,
Shreck

I didn't mean to be snappy if I was. I've been sick these past couple of days and I'm starting to be very cranky Anyway, get the DiamondPro 2040u, you will LOVE it! My grandpa even got one and he loves it...
PS- yes, I've used that same monitor one time at a neighbor's house.

Relax. Don’t worry about it you are really smart. I just lack the ability to notice it.

I don't sorry... I don't have a digital camera and I have never taken actual photographs of it with a real camera so I could scan them. If you really want some, then I could maybe take some pictures and have them developed? It'd be kinda a pain but if you want them that bad....

Master of the obvious
LCD's are much sharper than tube types but don't have the same color dynamic range or contrast range and their physical refresh rates are not all that great. Tend to smear on fast moving pics.
