    Question Dell laptops on ebay

Anyone notice the sheer number Dell laptops for sale that are brand new? What are these sellers? Are they business wholesale sellers reselling? Or does anyone think they are IT department people buying them through their work channels and then selling them on the side? They get the added benefit of volume discount from their work and the business discount. Just take and order some for your self and pay the Dell rep. and turn around and sell them on ebay for a profit.

Alot of them are corporate lease returns. Can't sell 'em as new, so they gotta sell 'em somehow. Some of the resellers you see at places like ebay, are contract resellers to the businesses that originally leased the machines. That's how I got my Dell Latitude. The answer to one of your questions is definitely yes, there are people (not just IT types either) that take advantage of employee buy-back policies getting discounted machines and reselling them. I am only the second "registered" user of my current laptop, but it may have passed through a few hands between the first and myself.

The discounts on hardware for corporate/volume/educational institutions aren't usually as steep as people might think, so there probably aren't a whole lot of people acquiring systems that way and reselling them.
