It's time for a new monitor...

..and I'm not quite sure what to get. I'd like to get either a 15" or 17" LCD...or a 19" CRT. Budget is ~$300, but flexible..I seriously doubt I can get a nice 17" LCD for $300, so I may find a somewhat cheap one for ~$200 (fs/t maybe) just to use for a while, and maybe use as a second display after I get a large (ie 18"-ish viewable) monitor.

Any ideas/suggestions? I'm using an NEC MultiSync 5FG now (17"?), and it's absolutely huge..I have to turn it sideways to fit it here..lol..I can get a pic if you want. It dwarfs my dad's 17" Dell (flat..sigh) CRT in physical size (and weight..wow)..but looks crappy in comparison.

That 22" is absolutely beautiful (and definitely affordable)..but it won't fit on my desk too well. So..time for a new desk!

    Any recommendations on ~15" LCDs?

    lol...would be nice.

I 'need' a black one also (I suppose I could deal with beige..but it won't match my case/speakers).

well, rummage around merkortech.com and see if anything strikes your fancy.

And remember that they get a lot of turnover, so check for new listings every couple days.

    HI:

Hard to believe the price drop in monitors. I have a Viewsonic 21", that I really like, and I paid my supplier $950 about two years ago. Don't pay to fix them anymore, just throw away and buy a new one.

I still have issues buying used equipment. I prefer the fresh smell of new hardware Even if I have to lose an arm and a leg for it
