Tell me what P4 to get
Recently I bought a bunch of new parts for my rig. I'm pretty sure my parents don't like the idea of me spending most of the money I have left on my computer, but that's just too bad.
I've already got 512MB Corsair PC2700 XMS and I'm gonna keep my GF3 for now. Here is what I have ordered so far.
Epox EP-4PEA+
Antec True550
Maxtor 120GB w/ 8MB cache
I've been looking at getting a P4 2.4B C1. Tell me if you think that's a good idea or if you have any other suggestions. I won't go lower than a 2.4B though and money is so definitely a concern.
On another note I started to sleeve my PSU today and damn it's tedious.
edit: fixed some stuff

You cannot exactly requires a C1 chip, but there is a very good chance that you 2.4Ghz would be a C1 chip
I would stick with the 2.4Ghz. Its a great chip
Intel I9 14900K|ASUS - MAXIMUS Z790 HERO|ASUS GTX 1080 Ti|64GB G.Skill|(3) Samsung 990 Pro 4TB NVME |Custom water cooling||Alienware AW3423DW 34" OLED
288TB Plex server (UNRAID)

Just saw an article today that was showing the value per cost of all the P4's, Colossus is exactly right, the 2.4 is the best buy out there.

Wouldn't the 2.53Ghz be more likely to be a C1 ??

i would go with the 2.4b also, but what in gods name do you need a 550 watt powersupply for? i have yet to see a computer that needed more than 350, big waste of money. get a 350-400 and your all set.

The P4 2.4B I just bought from newegg is a C1 so you'll probably get the same...

excellent board. my 2.4B (c1) hits 3.2Ghz with 1.6v (possibly less). and i love the features on this thing. stable as a rock too, and did i mention that it hangs with the SiS655? especially when overclocked? http://www.sharkyforums.com/showthre...hreadid=179405
2.4B would be a good choice. nice and cheap, and good chance of c1 stepping. but i must say that a c1 stepping doesn't guarantee a good oc. i went through 4 before i found this golden one.

The 400W is going towards my parents computer. They've still got a P3 600MHz and when I go home I can't stand that thing. That's the main reason for the upgrade, they're getting my mobo, proc and PSU. Then all I gotta buy is RAM and a case for them.
Also that 400W only has one fan and I justified that I need 2 fans. Plus I got the 550W for $94 at Amazon which is around how much Newegg has the 480 for, so I thought why not.

remember me?
The 2.4ghz and 2.53ghz are really nice buys right now and both overclock really well. Like someone said earlier, I think oyu are more likely to get a C1 stepping with a 2.53ghz. I'd get the 2.4ghz just because it's the best value.
