Does having integrated sound slow the speed of your system compared to a deicated sound card? Sound isn't the issue its if the speeds the same or not.

Your system will probably work exactly same. Depending on the codec of course. The most common one is the Avance Logic AC97 codec I believe, and its a good codec for overall use and it has (or so I have experienced) VERY low CPU utilization.
