Well it looks like I'll be in the monitor market again in a few weeks. I'm looking to move on from my current Viewsonic VA800 to a newer and better LCD. I've been hearing about all sorts of fruits of the response time race and some companies that weren't on my list about 20 months ago when I got this monitor will be on it this time around. I'm looking at the old favorites like the Viewsonics, NECs and Samsungs as well as the newer contender Sharps and Hitachis. I haven't yet been to the stores to look at any specific models (just some online browsing -- I HATE dead pixels so I'll be buying from a brick and mortar store with a good return policy), but I just wanted some ideas on what to look for and models to keep an eye out for. I'm shooting in the $750-1000 range and have a couple of features I'd like including 1600x1200 resolution @ ~19-20 inches and a DVI interface.
Any tips and suggestions to get me started (models etc.) would be helpful.
