Opinions on this case, please.

I'm looking for an aluminum full tower case. I cannot stand working in my mid-atx, but I still need it to be somewhat portable in the even of lan matches. I was thinking about one of the Chieftecs, linked above. They have this one in silver and blue. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Why do you say it's not portable? I'm not talking I go to a lan match every day or even month for that matter. It's aluminum. Why do you say that?

Well with mine loaded up, its pretty heavy. I dont care though since I never move it around. I think these cases are a steal, so I wouldnt hesitate buying another one. They stand about 20 inches too, but since you said you dont move it alot then you shouldnt mind it. I say go for it
Here are some pics of mine, entry #8

Mine too, that case is not aluminum. I guess for the occasional LAN party you could get by, but I'm sure as hell not taking mine anywhere.

Go for it, it's one of the best damned case designs around.
As for weight and size, let me just put it this way: Nobody carries his comp and monitor at the same time, unless he's using a Shuttle and LCD. Wether your PC is big or small does'nt change the fact that you have to carry it, and 50 yard with 5 more pounds in your arms once a month is definatly not going to kill anyone.
I have a Antec Plusview 100AMG, 26Pounds, empty. loaded: 32 pounds. Yup it's big, but heavy? Since when can't a young man cary 32 frigging pounds?
To all the Whinners who can't carry a PC:
If you have a hard time lifting and carrying a 32 pound weight for the odd 50 yard separating the car and your seat at a lan party, stop whatever your doing, and get to the frigging hospital.
Besides, most monitors outweight most PCs, but you don't see many bringing 14 inch monitors or complaining about the weight. No, they all bring 17 and 19 flatscreens and Trinitrons.

yep that case is in alu, and is very good, well laid out and thought out. I'd get it. It is quite large however, as are most aluminium cases.
Reviews and stuff always talk about lan partys etc. Does anyone actually go to these on a regular basis? If you do, then I'd get a shuttle spacewalker thing.

don't forget, adding three handles to the top of your case will make it feel really light. If you're carrying this massive bluky thing by the bottom corners, tryong to nudge open oddrs with your feet, it's a pain, but if you'vr got it by a handle with one hand, you're golden.
Tag one in the middle of the top, for easy one handed carrying, and one on either end, bot dual hand operation.
Heck, it might even make it look almost rack-mountable, if you like the industrial look...

I have an almost identical Chenming Dragon (Chieftec, Chenming, Antec, Enermax, Uneec are all Chieftec designs so which brand you get is no big deal) case in blue aluminum with a large side window just like that. For such a big case it is very light, though of course with a full system inside, still not a featherweight. Excellent case, well built and designed, very easy to work with. Highly Izzy recommended!
