    Talking minidisc replacing floppy?

i have been waiting for a long time for sony to release PC md-drives.... they once had an aim, many years ago, to replace floppy drives with minidisc drives...

that would be extra cool. (60/74/80minute discs), 140mb+ iirc... data drives.. should be cheap enough to make. no atrac encoding/decoding, etc as in the music minidisc. just straight opticals to write/read.... sigh.

sigh. another good opportunity wasted. discs are nice n cheap. sturdy and beat out crappy zip drives + discs so easiliy it isnt funny..

c'mon sony.. bring us our pc-md-drives.

I hear you, i love MDs, and they are much smaller than floppies. The thing is its not catching on too well in the music business, most people are still using CDs, so I guess Sony doesnt see it profitable to come out with a PC MD drive.

Mini Discs kick *** They are a very cool technology, too bad they did not catch on here like they did in Europe
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
    Pursuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And wither then? I cannot say.

    Cool

Sony also lost in next generation floppy.
If they could build the HiFD faster then
the Zip or SuperDisk, it could have been the next generation Floppy.
I know MDs are good choice too.
I even have a Sony MD player myself.
It is great. They also cam out with the Next gen. MD called MDLP which records songs 4 times more.
    It is so cool!
And it's not just Europe that cought on to MD.
You should visit Japan! They are crazy with MDs.
If you don't have it, you don't deserve to listen to music. (that's how it is)
I think Sony should go with MD for PC.
