Det. 40.xx series drivers and Unreall II do not mix!!

Man, talk about major FUBAR. Unless you want most of your characters to look like the character in Spawn or a really bad 60's video on acid, do not run this game on the 40.xx series dets.

I just bought it yesterday and installed it. After getting the patch to fix some bugs, I just relaized this can't be the way things are supposed to look. Found it in their support section on the web site. The 43.35's seem to have corrected the problem, but I sure wish I had taken some screenshots.

I believe when the game was released they recommended using 41.09.. Now that 43.45 is released they would probably want you to use that.. But even with 41.09 I still have some texture problems.. Like being able to see through peoples heads if you are to close to them

I had problems not with textures missing (see through), but just wild looking stuff. Isaac's whole body was completely covered in some kind of camo looking texture, and at certain angles he would completely go black. I could see the outline, and like the cherry on his smoke, but he was all black. The Marines armor had an rainbow appearance, kind of like when you see oil in water. The funny thing was that Aida look perfectly normal, world textures were okay too, only a few certain player models were funky.

    That is weird!

I might have to loadup those old drivers... Sounds like a fun game to play with those kind of colors/textures

That's very odd... did you try your vid card at stock while playing the game? (just a thought ) Becuase back in the time of UT2K3... I used to play with my TI4400 and 40.72 drivers... and I never had any kinds of issues what-so-ever. Then again, I never did download any patches for the game.... it all seemed to run fine

Yup. Tried stock clock speeds, different AA and mip map settings...no change at all. Put all my settings back after installing the 43.35 dets and all was well again.

This is very interesting. I used the 40.72's with Unreal 2 and it was OK. The new drivers are faster, but I had no problems with the 40.72's.

Maybe you had some prior driver remnants on your system that caused the problem?

Are you using the NoCD crack? There was a problem with textures missing or messed up if you patched Unreal 2 and used the NoCD crack from the original.

I don't think is was driver remnant problems. I have had these drivers installed for quite some time, and every game I play, OGL or D3D, has been fine. This was the only game with problems. I ran the uninstall from Control Panel, rebooted, and reinstalled the 43.35 drivers...problem gone.
