    Smile AAC Encoder for Windows

I just got one of those new iPods that supports AAC files and was wondering if there are any Windows programs that support AAC encoding. Best choice will obviously be iTunes for Windows if and when its released, but for now, I'm looking for other alternatives.

I doubt Apple would release a Windows version of iTunes. I wonder how they'll get the Apple music store to Windows though.

anyways, someone in another thread suggested CDex which has ACC, OGG and LAME for MP3.

The iTunes for Windows rumors arose because of this job posting by Apple:

Here's to hoping that they do execute and release a version for Windows. It combined with Quicktime would provide a far surperior multimedia solution then Media Player/Real/Musicmatch etc.

Also, ACC sounds like something I've heard before, but IIRC its an MP3 extraction feature, not AAC, which is based on MPEG 4 technology. I think iTunes is the only program to currently support AAC .

Wow thats great. I have to question why they don't just turn to their inhouse programmers for the job. If they're able to do QT for windows, iTunes shouldn't be that far of a stretch.
