    Question Choosing Moderators

I was just kinda wondering how the moderators are chosen. I know most of the mods have been here awhile, but I was just kinda wondering how one would go about earning a moderator title??? I'm not really trying to give any hints, or saying I should be a moderator (I'm sure half the mods hate me). I am just kinda curious as to how the process goes, and what are the requirements. Thanks in advance.

knowledgeable, helpfull, follows the rules, and usually a few mods that agree the person would be good
If your sig is longer than your post then type more.

I see spelling isn't part of the criteria. hahahaha. Also though, does the person have to post like a certain number of times a day??? Or, is majority rule between the other gods, I mean mods enough??? Thanks again.

It is a joke, you know something you laugh at. I guess people who are begging to be mods never joke around, and always have to be serious so all the other mods think they are mature. I see this being deleted soon. This thread is done.

    There is also Catch 22.

Folks who want to be a mod cannot be a mod.

All mod candidates must want to be a mod.

    1. Person must be 18 yrs, for legal reasons
    2. Person cannot ask to be mod -- admin asks person based on recommendation of other mods
    3. Person must be smart enough to keep Sharky members in line, but dumb enough to want to keep Sharky members in line! I remember former admin Housen, whenever introducing a new mod, jokingly says he tricked that person into being a mod.

Great post Senior Stooge, thanks for the info. This can be done away with now, sorry to get hasty earlier.

edit: One last thing. Will there ever be a situation like the one implemented at Anandtech (I think this happens) where some people don't have a mod title but really are mods???? I think it is pretty effective, I don't know what kinda control they have, but even just editing flame wars and closing OT stuff. I think this happens even though some of them are just normal posters. It seems you can get a lot of garbage cleaned up that way, especially if the person who has this magical touch posts all the time or frequents the forums about 30 times a day .

I believe someone had reccomended me and then I went a blew it (Note: I was in the right though in the argument, even though i probably lost all possibility of ever becoming a moderator
