TEAM AWESOME!
Which CD-RW BURNER should I get?
I've been keeping an eye on these two for awhile now and have decided to buy one of them. I just don't know which one They are both 52x24x52. The main difference is, the Lite-On has a 80ms seektime v. the Asus's 100ms seek time lol.
Links:
Lite-On: LTR-52246S
- OR -
ASUS: CRW-5224A
I think the ASUS one also has a better bundle. You can also read about these two on the SharkyExtreme's May Extreme Guide and May High End Guide.
I get paycheck tomorrow and will order one of these pups tomorrow. It's up to you to help my decision!
Thanks guys,
Dave

They're both great drives, you probably won't notice a difference, and it wouldn't suprise me if the asus drive was actually lite-on (edit: probably not though seeing as they have different seek times ).
Lite-on is a great optical storage company and if anything might be a tid bit faster, but if you like the asus bundle go with that. They're basically the same price at newegg.

If you need or want a DVD player also take a look at this excellent DVD/CDRW 48X24X48 combo drive by LG Electronics. I love mine!

AS far as the Liteon/Asus question both are very good quality with
a good chance the Asus is manufactured by Liteon or LG anyway...

I don't think you can get a proper burn at that speed.
Oh and Lite-on makes a similar DVD/CD-RW for only 65 bucks at newegg.

Lite-on all the way. Bought a Lite On 52x24x52 CDRW Model LTR-52246S, works perfectly. No problems so far. Burns CDs in like 2 mins.
Great investment.

There will almost definitely never be a 72X burner for "civilian" use. The discs would almost definitely shatter. Discs with "hairline fractures" shatter into a million pieces in 52X drives already.

Well my vote is going to Lite-On. I've had 4 of these over the years and no problems what-so-ever. I would switch to another brand but Lite-On has been good to me and I tend to stick with what works
