    well XP is just win2k dressed up. I use win2k personaly but there is no real differences between the three.

    Windows XP is NOT just 2000 dressed up. They are similar at the core, yes, (XP is based on the NT kernel) but XP is by no means a skinned 2000.

    XP is a dressed up version of 2k. There is no fundamental difference between the two except that XP has a lot more stuff integrated into it (drivers etc). I like 2k better because it has all the fat trimmed off .

    actually, no, there's a good number of kernel improvements in WinXP, and once you get all the candy graphical improvements out of the way, it's actually a bit faster than Win2k (ask UA549).

    not to mention the slightly improved legacy app support.

    do i have to clean my comp before i put on pro.

    This may be ture but not many ppl tweak there OS greatly. And This is why I say its about the same. Its funny you say B/C i have better luck getting older progies to work on win2k VS XP
