fun idea
You know how 120mm blowholes are almost exactly the size of a CD? why not put AOL cd's to good use by cutting them up and using them as grilles for 120's and 92's?
And just think, if it ever breaks, you can just get another from that mound building up beside your mailbox.

I would never do this, but I would love to see someone's case with these, lol

nope, it takes a lot to snap a CD. just be sure to be gentle, and cut it on a backing of some sort...

As long as you have it mounted well when you're cutting, no worries about it snapping. You really need to bend it to snap it. Be sure to use a somewhat new CD as they tend to get brittle as they get older.

The shop has a lazercutter and the water type as well. We have tons of aol cds at work, so I might just take a few home and experiment with my rotary dremel

IMHO, unless the cut was very very smooth, it would look tacky and cheap. Can't say for sure until I've seen it, though.

That was kinda what I was envisioning... it being absolutely horribly glaringly cheap. Just a little something extra to remind everyone that you still have a sense of humour.
See, some folkd have really nice modded cases, and they look stunning, but a lot of folks just want to have fun, get their hands dirty, and get some grins at the next lan party...
It's like my friend that drives a beaten up ford festiva. That's right, it's about the worst car in the world, and since he has a sense of humour, he walked into a performance shop, dropped $40 on stickers for it, and now it's plastered in "Import Revolution" and "SOS (speed of sound)" and "NOS" and a HUGE Ford oval on the back glass. It's essentially a direct insult to all the people that do that to their cars without actually adding any performance mods.
