    NF7-S CPUs

    I'm doing some troubleshooting. I believe I corrupted by BIOS somehow and have a new chip on the way. It won't be here until tomarrow so I want to spend some time double-checking a few things.
    My question is will an Athlon 1Gz Thunderbird work in the NF7-S? Is it backward compatable? The specs 'recommend' the XPs but don't give any details. I'm asking because I have a 1Gz tbird I can try in it just to make sure there's no monkey business going on with the processor.

    AFAIK, it should work fine. Just go into BIOS immediately and make sure everything (FSB, multi) is correct and your Tbird won't fry.

    Anything's Hot Swappable if you're fast enough.

    It should work, I went to a website(msi)which has a cpu support chart and checked and it stated that thunderbirds are supported on their Nvidia MB`s. It would help out a lot if all MB sites would have a cpu support listing.

    Thanks, it was taking a little pressure pushing the lever down so instead of forcing it I backed off and chickened out of trying it. The pins look longer than on the xp2100 I took out so I figured I had better make sure. Much oblidged for the info...
