Are you sure you need a 7.1 card? The speakers you plan on buying won't exactly take advantage of it. I would suggest getting a 5.1 card, like the Audigy2, and then getting better speakers, or a set of good headphones I wish I had a good set of headphones for my first year in the dorms...

Other than that, everything looks awesome. Also, I won't b!tch about your PSU, since Fortron are known to be pretty stable, so you shouldn't have any problems.

    Good luck

I acutally already have the revolution. I dont need it, but it was on sale for an insane price. As far as speakers, I only have space for 2.1, and i decided the PM14s would be the best for me. As far as headphones, I'm planning on getting some Seinhauser HD212pros.

Well then by all means stick with that setup I'm also getting a pair of the 212's, since everyone highly recommends them. Hope you like your new rig!

might want to consider antec truepower psu, they are the best...

vantec stealth are not as quiet as they are rated for, more like 27-30db. they make a buzzing noise when they spin. also, forget the intake fans alltogether, just put 2 exhaust in. lots of people on the forums here have said that intake fans just serve to disrupt airflow, and after doing some experimenting, i have found that they are right. my cpu and case temps were like 1-2 degrees cooler without the intakes, and my case was much quieter also. i actually am using the 2 chieftec casefans that came with my case for exhaust, they are rated at 24db, and they are noticeably more quiet than my vantec stealths.

the seagate barracudas sata drives dont perform that well, and are a bit expensive. unless you want super quiet drives, your better off using WD special editions or hitachi 180gxps w/ 8meg cache and sata-pata converters, it will perform better. actually my 180gxp is super quiet, noticeably quieter than WD drives.

    natgun,

I was going to get the TruPower430, but after reading some comments from other members I decided to go for the fortron. I'm going for a quiet pc here so I can sleep w/ my rig on. Thats also y I chose the Barracudas. For the fans, ive read many comments and reviews and am not really convinced either way, so I wanted to do my own trials. Maybe ill try two stealths and the two that come w/ a case if you really think they're quieter.

    trickster,
check out headphone.com for more info and to buy them. They also sell them at newegg and circuit city.

EDIT: xp1800, you beat me to it.

if you want silent, panaflo fans are much quieter. trust me on this one, vantec stealth fans make a loud buzzing noise. you can get the sennheiser 212s from amazon for like 45 bones shipped. that was the best deal when i got mine.

alright well if i go with the panaflo, i need 3to4 pin adapters, correct? Also, whats the deal w/ those tails, and do they come w/ screws?

I remembered why i decided to get intake fans. I need them to cool my two 120gig barracudas.

For the headphones, im getting mine at circuit city cause i work there and get a discount. If not i probably wouldve gotten the hd497s.

OK, things sound pretty good. NOW, how did you plan to backup? Especially running RAID 0.

ya... thats the reason i was thinking of the dvd burner.
I'll probably store my documents on both the raid and the system drive.

As for the other 239.9 gig on the raid, ill just have to redownload it
