    a7n8x+2500barton booting WAY slow.

finally putting together a gaming comp for my sis, we go buy the parts today.

    a7n8x(non deluxe)rev2.0 bios1003
    512x2 mushkin enhanced 2700ram
    wd 80gig w/8mg cache
    sony floppy
    liteon 52x24
    ati radeon 9800(non pro)
    antec case w/smart power 300w

    hrmm..am i missing anything?..

so..its all together, i boot it up..
it posts, it detects/counts the ram, it begins detecting IDE's..
and it hangs forever before moving on to the dmi pool screen, everything is coming ok, like the drives are detected correctly..it just takes SO damned long..literally 5 min to get to the next screen after post.

so i put in winxp pro boot up cd and boot up again, again takes about 5-8min to get past post, it finally gets to the screen where its supposed to let you choose to boot from cdrom..it never gets there, just black screen.

Ive checked bios and made sure all is good there, even loaded defaults and still same thing..im stumped.

Checked cables, i did have floppy on bass ackwards at first but took care of that..checked jumper settings, fsb is set to 266/333 default.

    i am stumped..

If that WD HD is the only drive on the channel, take off the jumper and try that. Double check all cabling and jumpers, correct ends of cables to mobo/devices.

    Agreed..
It sounds like you have a hard drive that is configured to master with slave present. Change the jumper to master with no slave present.
