    how to stop netsend spam on a win98 machine

    a friend explainded to me he`s receiving spam, after some Q&A, it turned out to be the netsend spam. Later today i`ll help him disable the messege service. I know on win2k and XP, but what about 98?

    There is no way to stop/disable the messenger service in Windows 95/98/ME.

    He will need a firewall like ZoneAlarm to block it.

    Uninstall Winpopup if it's installed. Add/Remove programs>>Setup.

    Win9x has no native capability to receive net send messages. If you are receiving them, it is via a third party product such as winpopup.

    first i'll search for winpopup, if the spam doesn't end, then i'll try zonealarm, the trial version
