    case fan placement

I'm building a new computer, and am tyring to figure out how many fans to order, adn where i'm going to put them. I'm getting that cheiftec/antec case that almost everyone has, and for fans im getting panaflo L1As (Chose over stealths bc I heard stealths made an annoying buzzing sound). Now keep in mind these dont move too much air (24cfm?), so I may need more fans than normal. I definatly want to put an intake in front the HDs, and two exhaust on the rear of the case. There is also a side spot for a fan, and a place for a front intake below where the hd intake fan will be.

Any advise on weather i should use the bottom intake or not?
Should I use the side spot, and should that be intake or exhaust?

I dont know about the bottum one as I have never had one and dont really want one, seems to me that it would just be annoying. As for the side pannel fan, I have one and it lowered my case temps about 1C, and CPU temps even more (bout 3C). It should be an intake fan, and you might wanna look into a blowhole at the top of the case (exhaust) to be its counterpart. I think you might appreciate some fans that move a little more air tho...

I hope you bought the 4-pin or 3-pin tails! I'd just start with the three you have, drive cage intake and two rear panel exhausts. In most cases side panel fans don't add or subtract much. If you have case temp problems, mod in a top panel 120mm exhaust.

I actually ended up going ahead and ordering before any of you replied.

I got 4 fans (all of them w/ 4 pin pass through tails) adn 2 filters for intake. I guess ill place the second intake in the side panel rather than the bottom front. I might experiment using the stock fans to see how temps would be w/ 5. As far as a top blowhole, im not sure if I really want to bother with that, as i'm not going to do any major ocing. Also I just remembered a side panel intake will probably be a good idea cause I'm thinking about putting in one of those zalman passive vga coolers, so i side panel fan will help it with that.

    Does that setup sound good?
Also for a hsf I'm going with the Zalman cpns7000 AlCu if it matters.

Good idea with the side fan, it will dissapate that hot air coming off the GPU.

About your fan setup, just mess with it man. Everyones rig's are different, just play around with different configs until you find the one that yields the best results
