    ATA and Windows 2000 Professional

Hey guys in need of some help. I read somewhere that win2kpro no matter what kind of hardware you have, automatically defaults to ATA-33. Now how do you set it up to use ATA-66. I dont think i have anything higher than that, and that is probably one of my bottlenecks. Thanks for the help.

If you have SP2 or better you shouldn't have to do anything.

    SYMPTOMS
Windows 2000 does not support ATA 100 (Mode 5) for IDE hard disks. All ATA 100 IDE hard disks that are used with Windows 2000 default to ATA 66 (Mode 4).

    RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, install Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
