Problems transferring files...

I've posted this before thinking it was a hardware/network problem, but I've gotten it narrowed down. Basically, I cannot transfer any files via file explorer between my Win 2k Pro and win xp pro machines. It takes forever! A 2gb file took me 4 hours to transfer via file explorer. Lately, I have been transferring large files via FTP which works much better. It took me 28 minutes to transfer a 7GB file via FTP between those two machines, which is much more reasonable. Obviously, the link is running as it should and as all tests have shown. Unfortunately, transferring files via FTP is painfully slow. Any suggestions on what is wrong with the two machines and the file transferring via file explorer?

First you should check for errors on each machine by doing a netstat -es from a command window. It should take ~3 minutes to do the transfer.

I'll post it if I can find it, BUT when transfering like this, for what ever reason, XP looks and talks to system task scheduler. Theres a tweak to tell it to stop doing it..

Yep.. already did the netstat -es without any errors. Are you sure that a 7GB file should take only 3 minutes via ftp? That seems a bit too fast.

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the 2GB file transfer over a 100Mbit LAN. I ftp files of that size many times a day over my home LAN.
