True but, Seagate wasn't listed as an option. Only Maxtor and

there's no doubt that maxtor is quieter than WD. the 3-year warranty is nice, though. overall i prefer maxtor, i think the quality is slightly higher.

I have one of each... never had any problems with either..... Maxtor seems a little more noisy though....

I have three WD and one maxtor - two WD are several years old and the maxtor is 3 or 4 years old - cant even remember buying it IMO both are good drives and if they survive the first 6 mths or so they should be good for several years.

i have an ancient 3 gig and 7 gig western dightal harddrive that are close to 8 years old and they have yet to fail, and i also have two 20 gig western digtal harddrive that has yet to fail to.

I too, have found that the liquid bearing Maxtors are almost dead silent. I can't hear them over my case fans, and those are just a gentle hum. Is it weird that I am comforted by the sound of my case fans?
