    Thumbs up Yes!!!

went out to the movies yesterday, and saw pirates of the carribean (goddam, orlando bloom is good looking) but anyway, I hat time to kill, and was wandering about the mall, when I saw what I'd been searching for for months!

    CHEAP ALUMINUM BRIEFCASE!!!

I am now the proud owner of a new aluminum briefcase!

Now you're probably sitting there, scratching your head and saying "my, that's a great story Jake, but what does that have to do with completely custom?"

well, I'm going to be building my PC in it, that's what! It's a nice slim one too, which should make it look extra spiffy (my PSU is too tall to fit, so i'll have to do some more modding (oh darn... ))

anyway, I'll be putzing around on it for a while yet, and I'll take pics as I go. End goal is to have everything in there (excluding monitor) and not have ANYTHING show when it's closed. Have it look just as it does now.

... running a via C3 700 and onboard video (or maybe I'll use an old ATi rage2 PCI card, haven't decided yet...).

I'll be used for just general word processing, web browsing and FILESHARING! I'll also probalby use it as a jukebox.

although I'm sure I could mount a full fledged system in there, I don't have one to spare, and I'm a little concerned about heat. If I put a P4 or an AthlonXP in there, I could run it, but only if the lid were open. This way I'll be able to run it closed with just an exhaust and a couple vent holes.

oh, I have no doubt that I could, it's just that I never really need to bring my main PC anywhere. It just sits at home and works. I only ever fire up a game maybe once a week, but I use my PC for music and movies and browsing and programming all the time. It has no need to go anywhere...

Dude, check this out for some pointers.
LanRig at GruntVille. I would even venture you could find a few other BriefCase Mods there.

hrmmm, his is nice, but missing a couple key elements:
Keyboard, mouse, speakers. Mine will be in the case. Granted, mine's a touch larger than his, but even still, it'll be fun.
