Mobile Radeon TV-out problems
Hey all
As my DVD player is heading towards the hardware graveyard I want to watch DVD's with my laptop connected to the TV. However, using S-video -> Scart I get a picture on my TV, alas with no colour
Also, no video shows up on the TV although it works fine on my laptop. I'm thinking this would be a driver issue, but that doesnt seem to be the case. Anyone had this problem? It's a PAL TV btw, and the Laptop is a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D with Mobility Radeon.
Ta.

Because of the overlay you must switch the video to the TV first.
Before you start your DVD player the TV must be the primary display.
How you do this depends on your model notebook.
My Compaq Evo N610c uses a function key (fn+F4).
You'll see the OS display on the TV.
Start your DVD player.
Enjoy the movie.

Thanks Ua, but that didnt really help.
The only problem now is that I can only get black/white output on the TV. Whether the TV is primary or not..
Any other ideas?

Check the adjustments in your driver - Display, Settings, Advanced. ATI Overlay and ATI Color tabs have several settings and a monochrome profile may be set in the Color Management tab for the second display (TV).
Make sure the sVideo cable is good.
If your TV has another video input such as firewire or VGA try it.
The only time I've run into color problems like you describe is with a bad cable or improper driver setup.

Had to be something silly. The 4 pin s-video cable plugged into my 7 pin s-vid port on the notebook was bound to give me problems! Should have checked there first..
Anyways, s-video to video cable (yellow one you know) worked a treat.

the 4 pin svideo cable should still work fine in the 7 pin video out socket. it works like a charm on my dell 600m, and the quality is much better than the RCA video (yellow) jack. i had the problem of it going black and white as well, but just ensured the svideo connectors were in properly, and it solved the problem...
