    USB 2.0 Speeds

I am trying to figure out if my supposed USB 2.0 hub is working properly. I transfered 117 meg of data (my digital camera) to a folder which took 2:01 minutes. Is this the speed at which USB works or am I still operating on USB1.1?

Well USB 2.0 can transfer at 480mbps, and is 40x faster than USB 1.1. I'm not good at math so you can do it

edit: Make sure both of your devices are 2.0 complient. Chances are the digicam is, but double check on your mobo. If one is USB 1.1, then you're only getting 1.1 speeds

oh, and another thing. it'll never really go the speed they claim. there are numerous factors that hinder that speed. ie, your HD.

Mega bits per second. That's of course with a perfect setup, meaning no signal degredation and one fast HDD

    USB 2.0 is 60Megabytes a second...

USB 1.1 is 12Mbps=1.5MBytes... So 117Mbytes/1.5=78seconds to transfer over USB 1.1, which is less than 2 minutes.

So most likely it's going at USB 1.1 spec...

Looks like your mobo is 1.1, since mostly all digicams are 2.0 now

Make sure all drivers are updated, and double check on your digicam's USB rating.

Yeah, you have to have Service Pack 1 installed if your using XP so 2.0 can work...

I tried updating the drivers from the motherboard disk but when i went in and looked at the files the text file said i didnt need to install them because windows has drivers for usb 2.0. In any event I tried it and windows wont let me install them - saying that the hardware cannot be updated.
