where to put these speakers

I've always wanted to buy a nice soundcard with 5.1 speakers so I could get the full experience in my games, but always gave up on the idea cuz I had no idea where to put all thse 5.1 speakers. I mean the sub, center, and 2 front channels are easy to place because you've got some desk space infront of you next to monitor, but how do you position the 2 rear channels? On an average computer desk, you don't have any space behind you (when you are facing the monitor) so where can you put the 2 rear channels? What do all your setups look like?

you ccan buy speaker stands to put the rears on or you could mount them on the wall behind you

I have a corner desk with stuff going along both walls so I can get my speakers behind to the side, not perfect but it works

I have mine mounted on the side walls, about 2 feet behind.

Are these stands generic for all speakers, or does each speaker set have a special stand?
