can I replace my Video card fan?
I have a Chaintech Ti4200 and the cooling fan stopped working. I tried to take it off the card but it seems to be glued on. Is there anyway to get it off or am I screwed?
Thanx for the help.

Really Cold Shark
getting a fan off of a video card is not that hard. it's most likely held on by some kind of thermal adhesive. the best way i've tried is to put the card in the freezer (in a static bag) for about 20minutes and then just pop the hs/f off with a screwdriver. others have had luck by just pulling really really hard.

Noob
I usually skip the freezer part, and pry it off with a screwdriver or knife.

Ive yet to see a ti4200 without pushpins.
It should have a couple of push pins on the sides of the cooler holding it to the PCB. Little black plastic split pins.
Squeeze the heads of the pins at the back of the card to push them through.
You can replace the whole cooler with a Blue orb or crystal orb.
Personally i think the blue orb is better because it has more surface cooling area, tho being a cast alloy heatink it tends to develop a hole in the base from shrinkage as it cools after casting so ussually needs a heavy lapping. sometimes need to take off 1mm to get that hole out.
The crystal orb has a milled copper base so doesnt need any extra work. Its better than a non lapped Blorb.
