Thread: What's the highest you've been able to get your 2500+ on air?

Thumbs up What's the highest you've been able to get your 2500+ on air?

Alright guys... I need some results! . I want to know what's the highest you guys have been able to get your 2500+ on air. Watercoolers are welcome to join in on the action aswell, but I will mostly be checking out the air coolers . And this has to be a STABLE overclock... meaning, you were able to run 3dmark, prime95, SuperPI... etc .

Highest air-cooled speed I was able to achieve was... 2.54GHz, at 2.1Vcore.

I couldnt get it any higher stably . I even tried a higher Vcore... but it didn't help much. I honestly really wasn't looking for max CPU overclock... what I really wanted was to get a NICE run of 3dmark with my 9700PRO. But in the end... I was able to get a max of like 18.9k. I was very pissed off. But then I realized (after trying ALL of the Cat series drivers) that I have winXP installed. But I was too lazy to Install 2k, lol.

Nah... of course not! ... If I wanted to brag, Id make a thread about my 2800+ @ 2.91GHz... I mean .... hehe jk .

No but really... the database at VR-zone isnt that great yet... and I do know that alot of people around here have been getting 2.5+ out of these chips . So instead of browsing through all the posts.. id rather them gether in this thread!

So when are you going to push that video card harder for a 21.5 score?

same here at 2.23GHz: 39C vs. 36C at stock, and running prime for hours only increases to 42C! that is way less of a differential than i ever got with a pal or t-bred. with an SLK-800/900 the temps would be even lower. i just haven't decided if i'm going to be content at around this speed and default voltage with the AX-7, or get an SLK and go all the way to get to lostlil's 2.54 btw, SuperPi is 45sec, which is 5 seconds faster than my 2100+ at 2.3.

    prime95 is here.

Colossus turned us on to SuperPi, actually. (at least i think it was he. ) it's a pi calculation benchmark. i don't have the direct link anymore, but it's linked to on this page (search down): http://www.myownlittleworld.com/pi/pitable.html

I went down about 3 secs on SuperPi moving from 2100+ to 2500+ at the
same Mhz. Now, my FSB went up from 195 to 215, but SuperPi, as fa
as I know, is dependent on raw CPU speed (not??)

Anyway, I don't think I see enough written here about how Barton
outperforms Tbred clock-for-clock. Not by a huge amount, but it DOES.

it totally does. remember the anandtech review from earlier in the year? the barton equals or surpasses the t-bred at the same clock speed every time. and for general use (what most people probably use their computers for at least 50% of the time), the barton is king.

Yeah, that was one of them. BTW, I went thru the scores randomly
to see that Barton was right up there. I have mine running at 3200+
speeds, so it'll fare purty good. Now, not to forget that if I o/c,
then I have to take into account that the other CPU's will as well,
to be objective. Still, a $171 chip/mobo ain't too shabby....

I'm running my 2500 at 2230 solid. With the rest of my components so fat, a soldier in BF 1942 turned around yeterday and screamed at me " Slow this D*mned thing down! " Heeheehee
