My vision is improving!
Did my used IBM hdd just die on me?
I spent 3 hours installing windows on her then when I was about to install aol it gave some error so I reboot and says I/O system disk invalad or something, I cant get to windows anymore with that IBM drive of mine. Is it a clicking sound if I touch the drive and feel something like tapping wood while feeling the drive? could some seller have sold me a dieing drive? I got it for 95 cents though but man thats no fair

do a zero fill
format, then run the IBM diagnostic utility to check fitness.
more than likely it is still under warranty (the older drives had a three year warranty).
just go to website, punch in the serial number, it will tell you if it is still under warranty, if so, you got a new or refurbished HD coming to you with the exchange.
good luck.
.95, what did you expect???

true, but you will only get another ibm in return. oh well, I guess the 120 and 180 gxps are too bad.

Ha! Yeah that hard drives dead. I guess you can RMA the hard drive. That's a pretty kickass deal though!

That's the same model that they sent me as a replacement when my 75GXP died. No probs so far.
