    ATI Demos - lost focus ??

    When I try to view the demos that came with my ATI video card they load up properly then minimize and then a message pops up saying ATI "Demo" lost focus and will now close. Why is this happening??

    Maybe your computer isn't getting enough sleep. I know I tend to lose focus when I don't get enough sleep Seriously though, I don't think I've ever even heard of that problem before.
    The Sweetness:
    * Intel Pentium 4 2.4C @ 2.88 (12x240)
    * ABIT IC7 w/1GB PC3500 DDR
    * SLK 900-U w/Vantec Thermoflow 92x25mm Fan
    * Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro (440/370)
    * Raidmax Black Mid P4 350W ATX Case

    Damnit - I got the error back.

    This time I called ATI and had a techy help me out

    This is what I had to do. Be sure to download the windows encoder too. The techy sent me this email. Am hoping this works. So far so good.

    1. Uninstall ALL ATI programs listed in ADD\REMOVE Programs under the
    control panel

    2. Restart into SAFEMODE.
    Windows 98/ME - Hold Down the SHIFT key or tap the F8 key as your system
    restarts.

    Windows XP/2000 - Tap the F8 key once prompted

    3. Select START and then RUN. In the Open Field type REGEDIT followed by
    selecting the OK button.

    NOTE: Prior to making any changes please backup your system registry.

    To backup the system registry.

    A. Select and highlight My Computer in the Registry Editor
    B. Select File and then Export
    C. Export Registry File dialogue box will then appear
    D. In the File Name Field type the name of the file (i.e. Backup)
    E. Ensure that "ALL" is selected in the Export Range section
    F. Select the SAVE button.

    4. Remove the following registry keys:

    NOTE: The below Enum Key is ONLY available under Windows 9X/ME. As well, not
    all keys will be available under every OS.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies

    5. Close the Registry Editor and restart the system

    6. Allow the system to redetect the display adapter. Windows will install a
    default VGA graphics driver

    NOTE: This will not occur under all operating systems

    7. Once prompted restart the system.

    8. Windows will then redetect the monitor. Allow the system to install
    standard monitor driver for your display

    9. Install DirectX 9 and then restart the system (located at
    http://www.microsoft.com/directx)

    10. Install the ATI display drivers and then the ATI MMC - Restart once
    prompted

    11. Test the PC
