Address space is perdicted to be depleted at the growth rate of buisness by (this is a guestimate) in the next 15-20 years. IPV6, or internet 2 as it's called has intercompatibility with current ipv4 address space and has already became populated by organizatons, colleges, and people who seek internet presence in the not so distance future. I will not argue with you anymore, I'm sure you know what you are talking about, but last night I was in a bad mood and took what you said to heart. Network dynamics change quick enough that if you are out of the loop for atleast a momment (for me just one year) things get quite different, fast.

I've worked at financial firms, ISP, I've done a bit of private consulting myself in my brief career. Actually as I've mentioned earlier, I am out of the hustle while I complete my CS degree over at Stony Brook. There wasn't much job security in the network gig, and I've had enough experience to know that job security is something I 'do' want, which the buisness cannot offer without drastic comprimise. Am I about to move out to China or India, hell no! : P

Anyways no man is perfect, I understand ICANN is a non-profit organization, similar to the IETF, and was created with agreement by other importants nations (and our beloved US). You are correct. One thing you cannot disagree with me on, I'm sure, is that internet is our invention therfore we pretty much dominate it in population and politically. We have rubbed this in other nations faces for years.

Anyways, IPv6 is a very clever protocol, most new network students like collusus may not have to thoroughly understand it now while the networks are still converging over ip ipv6 space, but I'm sure within 5 years it will be right up there in cisco's itenerary for network basics.
