PCMCIA 16bit or 32bit NIC?
Hi peeps
I have a Dell Latitude CPi D266XT Lappy and i am looking to get a network card for it.. However, i have seen 16bit and 32bit PCMCIA cards available.
Are there different versions of PCMCIA slots from a hardware point of view?
if so how do i find out what PCMCIA slots i have in this machine or can i just buy either card?
Cheers
Jon

Crash Test Dummy
There are 16-bit and 32-bit versions of PCMCIA. Any system with PCMCIA slots should take a 16-bit card, while 32-bit (aka CardBus) cards will only fit into 32-bit CardBus slots.
A CardBus card should give better performance, and any relatively recent laptop should be able to take CardBus cards. Every laptop I've owned since a ThinkPad 760XD has been CardBus-capable, and that ol' ThinkPad was a Pentium 166 if I remember correctly.
