keyboard
hi I am wondering if anyone knows of a good black natural keyboard, and if not, because I cant seem to find one anywhere, just how bad an idea would painting a keyboard be, of course I would remove the casing from the internals and just do the casing
any ideas?

if you paint your white keyboard you will still have white keys remember. you can buy new ones but i forget the site at which they have new keys. but in my opinion it would just be better to go buy a new keyboard that is black than paint your white one and have white keys on a black board. just my opinion.

no I want the entire keyboard to be black, it is just I cant find a natural keyboard that is black, so I am wondering if there would be any real problems with painting it, and if anyone knows what type of paint would not get sticky after being used a bunch

There are 2 natural keyboards that are black that I know of, but I think that they're probably at prohibitive price points (wow lots of good Ps right there). Logitech Cordless Comfort Duo (which is all black) and Microsoft Optical Desktop Pro, which is black and silver. Problem is that they're both wireless keyboard/mouse combos and retail for $100 (I got my MS optical desktop pro for $65). Both great keyboards...but probably out of your price range.
As for painting, I'm not sure. Note also that you'd have to repaint the keys with symbols, unless you're a good enough typist that you never need them.

you can always go the generic way for 11 bucks and get a black keyboard. come on you know you want one 11 bucks its calling your name. but really its not a bad keyboard, it types and it doesnt have anythign to get in your way like other buttons. just a thought.

My recent experiences would show.... that it is possible to 'paint' a keyboard and have it hold up.
I started off with a logitech cheapie keyboard, removed cover etc..
procured two spray cans of 'vinyl spray paint' from autozone, and had at it. The result wasn't so much a paint job, as the plastic was re-dyed to another color. I'm presently typing on a black keyed / silver base keyboard, that is the result of such effort. Been using it for about 2 months now, dropped it several times and still don't show any nicks.
Only cavet, is beware the humidity. The flat dyes will come out glossy in places if the humidity is too high. Multiple, thin coats allowing each to dry completely will give much more uniform color. This stuff may run, but its of no concern. It is a dye, and will penetrate into the plastic rather than leaving a surface coat. So long as you dont get it on too thick, it'll just absorb into the undercoat given a few days.

thanks for the info, so auto stype paint would work best
well wish me luck

I had this very same problem recently, my new rig is all black and I wanted to have a black natural keyboard (not wireless). After many hors of searching I just gave up and bought a black Logitech standard keyboard.
I think it's time keyboard manufacturers started offering more colours.

I have a black keyboard. What we're talking about is an ergonomic keyboard in black (not a wireless version). There are a handful of standard keyboards in black and a few in other colours other than the standard cream. Ergonomic keyboards on the otherhand tend to be just cream.

you could try getting a normal white natural keyboard... and then get another regular shaped black keyboard and switch the keys... then you only have to paint the case and not the keys (pretty easy to do with vinyls dye).... only thing is your gonna be spending extra $$$ and you need to find keys that are compatible
bitfenix prodigy, i5 4670k, asrock z87e-itx, zotac gtx 970, crucial m500 msata, seasonic x650, dell st2220t

The keys on the natural keyboards are shaped totally different to any other keys on the market ... especially the spacebar(s).
