    cuttin windows

I have ordered a couple small window kits from a local retailer. I am going to install them into my case. My question is about the cutting of the holes. The design is sort of a swoosh design, take a circle squash it then move most of the interior to one end. I have a dremel but there must be more efficient way to cut this out. I am thinking of a hacksaw blade and wrapping some tape around one end and using it like a jigsaw. Would this work?

My case is aluminum so a metal hacksaw blade should go through it pretty easy.

Cutting it with a Dremel from the inside out (for the top) and the outside in (for the bottom) would definately get the job done, but it will take some time. I think what you mentioned would work well also. Ask Speedstream, he just cut a window in his case

not to argue with anyone but using a hacksaw blade will take a long time you won't be happy.
if your case is aluminum, I suggest to use a dremel with a tungsten carbide bit, straight spirel very clean cuts and very fast. and alot cheaper than cut off disc's.
sure I'd like to hear from you,

A jigsaw with a 36 tooth blade would be ideal. It cut through my Antec side-panel like butter and needed MINIMAL sanding. The Dremel is great for sanding, but not for cutting something so large or intricate as flames...pics are coming.

With the jigsaw though, you need to drill a pilot hole for every new edge to cut. The whole process is actaully quite easy to do and the results are very rewarding.

yeah I suppose I should just go spend the 30 bucks on a cheap *** jigsaw. Prolly would be less hassle than phookin round with a hacksaw blade and I would have anothe tool for future projects

    With the jig:

-Get a good couple of blades. These are the ones I intend on getting.
-Go slow, let the blade cut for you, at it's own pace.
-Use a liitle lubricant in the path of your blade if you feel it's necessary.
-Use a guide (cutout, straight-edge etc.)
-Cut inside the lines, and file later.
-Clamp some plywood beneath your side panel
-Tape off the side panel (painted side)
-Maintain a steady grip and wear googles!

Speedstream: Your case is steel, correct?
