Looks good!! Is that generic RAM?? You might wanna get good ram like crucial/corsair/mushkin. Why don't you get the Pionner 16X instead, they are fairly cheap now. For the sound card, go for the SB Live! OR Philips Acoustic Edge. Both are great.
Make sure your tbird is unlocked before you plug it in with your kt7a.

not sure what RAM I'm gonna get, I will most likely go to Crucial for the RAM.
I already have the Pioneer 10X so I cant really justify getting a faster one for just watching DVD movies.
I'll check out those sound cards!
I was checking this heatsink for the CPU

does anyone have any info on this fan.heatsink combo? any good?
thanks!

I have the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz 6.1 sound card. I like it a lot. It supports up to a 6.1 speaker surround system, and has a spiffy "versa jack" that you can set for analog out/in or digital out. It is an easy install and set-up and from a reliable company. I haven't, however, ever used the SB Live! Platinum, and everyone says that is is awesome, so that may be a better one. Beats me.

Please dont buy the heatsink from them you can get that for about $35 at other places and you may want to look it the Alpha pal6035 v.2 and get a YS tech 60mm fan, you can get practically equal performance for about $25 and the fan is slightly quieter

About the sound card, get the SBLive! X-Gamer 5.1 I have it and never had any rpoblems with it, its great. I got it for $100 and it also has full versions of UT, Dues Ex, Thief 2, and MDK2 inside. Real nice, right?
And about the HSF, thats way to expensive, i recommend going for the WBK38, its the follow-up to the FOP38-1, its suposed to cool better too. Get it, you wont be sorry.

Those prices are canadian. And that is the site where I got my delta 38cfm fan and other things. It's a very good site.
That HSF is very good. But I suggest you get the FOP38-1 instead. It performs much better, but it is kinda loud.

i'd really look for some sort of sound card shoot-out article... i'm not impressed at all with the sound blaster live. the only thing that's forcing me to get one is the sound-fonts because i like to make electronic music and dont feel like spending tons of money on a sampler or a professional music card. imo, creative should go back to what they did with the awe64 and put onboard memory instead of using my system memory. i mean, they dont need ddr ram or anything, and ram is dirt cheap these days...
well, i digress... basically, dont go by what someone else says, do some research on zdnet or some hardware sites for comparisons.

I bought the KT7A-Raid, IMO its one of the best boards around, and I dunno if I wanna take the plunge into DDR just yet (next system for sure), and the RAID features is sweet, I had a bad experiance once when I lost a HD with a ton of important sstuff on it.
I think I have to do a little more research on sound cards, the SB Live sounds like a decent card, but I'd rather not install a ton of apps just for the sound card, I want a simple sound card, with great quality (no crackles/pops), speed (doesnt hog CPU) and is reliable.
GeForce 3 looks sweet, so does the ATI Radeon, I'm a big fan of ATI because of their feature packed video cards (DVD decoding, TV in/out, video capture, great quality), where as teh GeForce has limited features.
thanks for all your replys
