Broadband has been out for a long time now, so why the disconnect factor?

Title pretty much says it all.

You would think, after how many years broadband has been out, one would think all this "ISP disconnects" and other services having disconnection problems would have ceased itself by now.

Hell, how long have I had cable, and still to this day, my ISP has issues.

You would think, the industry as a whole, would have some f***king way to end all this disconnecting crap and move on already.

Does anyone know why this still happens? I mean, come on, I've had broadband cable for as long as a I can remember, only to hear "We are performing network upgrades/maintence, your following areas may be inable to access the internet at this time, blah, blah, blah" (no this didn't just happen, I'm just saying)

You would think this crap would end by now, I thought "Technology is fast and doubles each year"

    This statement is obviously bullsh*t.

Anyone want to agree that ISPs and hosting partners, corporate websites, etc etc etc would have disconnections "a thing of the past" by now?

Sh*t people, it's almost 2004 already and little joey down the street who still has 56k, is online more than my broadband living a$$.

My isp NEVER disconnects me, you just have a crappy service provider. No need to complain so much, this is a gree country, if you dont like your provider then switch. There are dozens of other companies out there.

I've had DSL for almost 6 years and have never been disconnected by my ISP. Sure, there are scheduled maintenance tasks, weather and other unforseen problems to contend with but overall my DSL service is more reliable than my voice service (over the same lines), cable TV service, electric service and water service.

i've never heard anything good or bad about charter pipeline (until now ), but yeah, it sounds like you're paying for cr@p. i've had road runner cable for almost a year and have never been disconnected once during normal conditions. i think they went down one or two times because of lightning, but like ua said, you kind of have to expect that once in a while.

I have had Cable for about 3 years and the only time it went out was when my house got hit by Lightening!!!! I Think it actually hit the cable first cause that old Motorolla modem just about exploded. I pulled the top cover off it and capacitors were exploded all over that thing. It also got one port on my 3com switch and about 4 nic cards. I was at work when the storm rolled through. Funny thing is I went to TW and got a new modem and up she came. I have no complaints about my RoadRunner. In fact I upgraded to business class this year. It rocks!!!
