    Why OpenGL sucks in CS

Current video card driver: 45.20 Beta
    Half Life is latest version
CS is latest version (well, 1.5 that is).

When running CS and playing with OpenGL, either the game just randomly goes back into the desktop without any message or warning, or goes back into the desktop and says: Faulting application hl.exe, version 1.1.1.0, faulting module nvoglnt.dll, version 6.14.10.4465, fault address 0x00015482. [IT USED TO SAY THIS for the 44.65 drivers, however, it has not done this anymore but instead...]

Now that I have upgraded the drivers it no longer pops that message up. Instead, if I die in CS and go into spectator mode, the game starts to lag. Its almost like watching someone on a webcam with a 56k modem and see their picture jolt around every five seconds or so. But as soon as a new round starts, everything goes back to normal. I thought I would just say screw opengl but no, d3d sucks even worse and the game isn't as clear or sharp. Any ideas on what the hell is wrong. I blame a 3 year old video card :-) and think it is time to buy a new one!!!

I would suggest trying official drivers. 44.03 is the latest official Nvidia driver from www.nvidia.com

If those don't work well, try 40.72, 30.82, 28.32 or 23.12. Those were the previous official driver versions.

Maybe I should have mentioned - all other tested drivers, from 29.20's and up, INCLUDING WHQL drivers and OFFICIAL drivers were tested and same damn results. Fools!

Then there's something wrong with your system, cuz my best friend has been playing CS for quite a while now w/ his GF2 and he's had no problems at all.

EDIT: Also, dont overclock; overclocking does some crazy crap sometimes.

Did it ever work before? I'm assuming this isn't a new video card. I have an idea even though I'm a fool, try running everything at stock speed and once you get it to work at stock, then and only then overclock it...

There is something wrong with your system. OGL works perfectly fine in CS on my system, while playing, in spectator, or any other mode. I have never been kicked back to the desktop with an OGL file error. I have 1.5 and Steam 1.6 CS and the 1.1.1.0 latest HL patches, so it's not that either.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT EVEN AFTER UPGRADING TO 45.32 OR WHATEVER IS THE LATEST WHQL THAT IT STILL HAPPENS AND IT SUCKS. OPENGL REST IN PEACE>
