    Possible cause for no startup?

My son was playing a game on the PC (Athlon 2100, 512, GeF3) and it froze on him. I couldn't Ct-Alt-Del out of it so I just killed the power. When I attempted to restart, the lights flashed for about 2 seconds on the case and then it just shut down. It did this about 4 or 5 times and then finally it fired up just fine. I was just wondering if this is something I should be concerned about and what some of the possible causes are.

    Thanks

what do you have for cooling on the chip? it's possible that it could have locked up from getting hot and it would then not want to boot until it cooled down.
another possibility is a bad power supply, or that the power supply overheated.
