Any XP2600+ and 2700+ bartons?
The guys at the store are telling me they have XP2600 and 2700 bartons(out of stock tho till late tomorrow). They also say the XP 2600 "barton" clocks at 2.083(which i thought was Tbred 2600 clock)
I thought all 2600 and 2700 were still 333Mhz Tbreds.
They showed me a 2800+. You can tell its a barton by the longer core, housing the extra cache.
They said the 2600 and 2700 look just like this.
Any truth to this or should i spank their butts tomorrow for making me wait a whole day?
They dont have XP2500+( in short supply down here apparently).
If the 2600 and 2700 are Tbreds I might just grab the XP2200+ which is an AIUHB. Wasnt sure where the date was but they only came in last week.
If they are bartons then i'll grab one and swap for a friends 2400+ and some extra cash so basically i'd get a 4 week old 2400 for the price of a new 2200.Dont really wanna spend more. The rig will be a jetway KT266a DDR/SDR board with PC133. yeah i know. lay off ok? So i cant really use a 333mhz CPU unitll I at least get some faster ram so i can FSB overclock.
In any case. i'll find out when i can see them in person tomorrow.
Till then, all comments welcome.

My vision is improving!
on that mobo, an xp2100 will do nicely. I doubt bartons can run on kt266 mobos, heck I hardly got my pally to run on kt266 mobo, some only run tbirds

Its a KT266A and it ran my friends XP2400+ very well.
I wasnt planning on using the barton anyway, was going to swap it for that same Tbred and some cash so it would cost the same as buying a 2200. But i'd still have the option to keep it if it does work, and if i can afford it.
Do you think its possible the 2600+ is a barton?
BTW. they dont have a 2100+ in stock and the 2200+ is only a couple of bucks more. Its also an AIUHB.

Quote from AMD.com Athlon XP Model 10 White Paper:
As of 05/12/03 (latest official AMD White Paper update):
The AMD Athlon XP processor model 10 features seventh-generation microarchitecture with an integrated, exclusive L2 cache, which supports the growing processor and system bandwidth requirements of emerging software, graphics, I/O, and memory technologies. The high-speed execution core of the AMD Athlon XP processor model 10 includes multiple x86 instruction decoders, a dual-ported128-Kbyte split level-one (L1) cache, an exclusive 512-Kbyte L2 cache, three independent integer pipelines, three address calculation pipelines, and a superscalar, fully pipelined, out-of-order, three-way floating-point engine. The floating-point engine is capable of delivering outstanding performance on numerically complex applications.

As you can see from the AMD White Paper, there is an Athlon XP 2600+ Barton clocked at 1.917GHz. Not quite the 2.083GHz that they claim. The 2800+ Barton is clocked at 2.083GHz though, perhaps they were confused? It wouldn't make logical sense if they said the 2600+ Thoroughbred and 2600+ Barton were clocked the same. There is no Barton XP 2700+, at least from that White paper.
I wish AMD updated their information more because the last update was about 3 months ago and there may very well be a Barton 333MHz FSB Athlon XP 2700+ by now. I kind of doubt it though, seeing as how they (the guys at the store) even got the clock speed of the 2600+ Barton incorrect.

GB I must admit I was unaware of the 26Barton jago pointed out to us. I don't know about your country but in the good old US no one sells a Barton 2600, no one. I'd be monumentally skeptical, especially these guys are also purporting a 27Barton which we all know does not exist.
Also as aforementioned I'd double check with your mobo-makers website to ensure Barton compatability

They got a 2600 in today. it was a tbred. They guys that said it was a barton were'nt there. bet they skipped town
I got the 2200. they didnt have any 2100's.
Its running at around 40C right now, 1.66v with stock cooler and thermal pad.
It'l have to do.

I left the PC on overnight. got up around lunchtime today and it was sitting on 33.5C. not too bad for stock cooling. Its still only 34C now after browsing for 30 mins. Guess that pad bedded in ok.
I think i'll just leave the stock cooler on for now.
Stupid me was so anxious to get the CPU in yesterday i forgot to take down the numbers. If i take it off now i'll wreak the thermal pad. Doh.
Anyway. its still 34C. COOL
This 2200+ might have some OC in it yet but that'l have to wait for ram and a decent mobo.
Im happy now.
