Just Installed My New ATI Radeon 9600 256mb. Something Is Wrong!!!

Hi, I Just Installed My New ATI Radeon 9600 256mb. Something Is Wrong with it. I don't quite know what it is but everything seems to be working wrong. The "8-bit palletted textures" in the FF8 for the PC FAILS and I'm only getting about twenty frames on Counter Strike, DUST! Can someone help me out here. I also reformatted the drive so I know it's not a driver confliction. Perhaps I have crappy drivers or something. Anybody know anything?

You'll have to make sure all the old nVidiot drivers have been zapped. Download RegCleaner, run it and zap any nVidiot drivers it finds.

make sure you installed things like chipset drivers and agp drivers and direct x 9 and all that good stuff...make sure you don't have any replacement models for hl (like those stupid fusion packs) because when I had that...the game would be pretty choppy...I removed them and the game wasn't choppy anymore...and all modern cards (any radeon or any geforce) will fail the 8-bit palletted textures test because they simply don't support such an old "feature"...

Oh actually, I did a full format of my computer when I installed the new Radeon. Therefore, there shouldn't be any nvidiot drivers in there at all.

Oh, yeah thats right, I haven't installed the Motherboard drivers yet. Unfortunately I can't do that yet. I'm expecting a new motherboard on Thursday. Don't want to put in drivers which might otherwise cause problems later right now. I guess I'll wait on that and see.

Also, I got the issue with my Counter-Strike fixed somehow. I don't know what happened but it's fine now. I get plenty of frames with 6x AA. I also kept the Realism Pack on. I like the extra detail it gives.

About the 8-bit paletted textures, I don't know whats up with that. When I was running my GeForce3 Ti200 with FF8 it passed. It ran fine for some reason. I guess the FF8 1.2patch was made sometime between the GeForce3 and the Radeon 9600 huh? Oh well, I'll just deal with it. Either that or play FF8 on the ePSXe emulator. Thanks anyways.
