I have 1.5 down /128 up dsl,I get high pings in battlefield 1942

I just got sbc yahoo dsl 1.5 down/128 up dsl and I get high pings in battle field 1942 browser and secret weapons demo.Is there any way to decrese pings on this.My roadrunner cable modem service had lower pings than this.

i haven't heard too many good things about SBC, try restarting the modem. or it could just be a shitty DSL line, or you could be far from the CO

I think pings in browser are wrong because I entered a server at a 94 ping and in the server I was getting 57

speedguide.net might help with there patches then go to dslreports.com and use their tweek tool.

ping yourself. i love my SBC, when i play online games(like tactical ops) i get anywhere from a 30-90 ping, one time i hit 13. dont mind that the CO is about two blocks from me.

Guys remember it also depends where the server is. When I play games it's usually in the 80's and upwards. Rarely do I see 30-50ms pings. If you want to know how bad your latency is, do a traceroute to a server that's on the other side of the coast line.

I'm on the East and when I do Yahoo which I presume is in Sillicon Valley, I get about 80ms which isn't bad for 1.5 meg line.

Also in some games the optimization is for dialup users. I know for a fact that SoF2 is optimized for dialup, but when I change my connection rate it goes from 80ms to 30ms.

a ronin is right. the location of the server is very important. i only play on servers based in the uk and my pings average about 50 and rarely go above 60. can't play instagib in UT with high pings you see.
