    SLK-900u grease ?s

When I orderd my SLK 900 I also orderd some artic silver III. I just got my order today but they forgot to put the artic silver in the package. They SLK came with its on termal compound. Should I just use what came with it or wait on the artic silver? I want to put all this together but if the AS III is much better I'll wait.

Id wait for the Arctic Silver. It might give you temps 10ºC lower than what you can get with stock thermal grease. If that isn't worth the wait I don't know what is.

Holy crap! I didnt think it would make that much of a difference. I guess I'll wait

Just a side note: This thing is heavy. Hope it will stay on once installed.

Well, 10 degress is pretty far fetched. I'd more like 3-5 degress Celsius.

Is you're SLK900 the bolt on one (back plate, screws), or a clip one (metal clip in middle, attaches to socket)? In case you're wondering whether it will stay on, it will. However I once saw a case where some guy's SLK900 moved around and almost fell off after he moved the case a lot. He used the clip method.

Mine came with the backplate and metal clips. I can choose how to mount it and I'm guessing the backplate would be the way to go. So 3 - 5 c is still worth waiting I guess.

It varies system to system so this is why I said "it might"

I used the stock thermal paste and it seems to work fine. With a 92mm tornado, i get 30C idle and 38C load.
