yep, I know quite a few people at work that call their main system desktop the "CPU"... I try not to be overly sarcastic when I correct them cos I don't want to be know as "Matt Burns the company computer guy" (SNL skit for us Yanks)...

I don't think I've ever heard anyone call their computer a hard drive but I have heard people call them CPUs. The worst was one of my friends. I told him he would need a new videocard to play the new UT2k3. He replied I'll download a new one.

This is all elitist semantics really As long as you can communicate with somebody, you're good to go. Doesn't matter so much what exact words you use.
Personally I just point and say "that". If you wanted to be entirely and 100% accurate in your verbage, you would say: "The system case as defined by the containment, and inclusion, of the following non-exclusive list of components - motherboard, daughterboards and/or expansion cards, processor, memory, hard disk drives, optical media drives, power supply, processor heat sink, processor cooling fans, case cooling fans, and interior cabling."
But then people would think you were either anal, or a lawyer, and that wouldn't be good. So don't.

I know several people who consider their hard drive, as the memory. They will say why won't this program run, I have lots of memory left. Then I try to tell them that they are referring to the hard drive, and not the memory. It gets old, but that is okay, because some people really don't want to know about computers, just that it works when they need it.
p.s. freedonX you would not want to drink our tap water, unless you like drinking swimming pool water (highly chlorinated), sometimes it almost smells like bleach.

I sell computers and people refer to them as hard drives or cpus all the time. Its really annoying because they'll ask about buying the "hard drive" or "cpu", so ill start showing them hard drives, then they get confused and think im really stupid, before i realize what they are actually talking about out.
