F*@#ed my video DOH!
The only thing I changed was my drivers. I updated to the latest drivers and ran 3D mark to see if it helped any. My score went from 2145 to a 1578. I restarted my pc and noticed when it posted my video memory was 64mb instead of 128mb the card has. I uninstalled my drivers but when posting still shows 64mb. I have no clue how to fix this. Did I burn this thing up benching it or is the bios maybe f'ed?

Really Cold Shark
i would guess that it's the bios, but i've never heard of anything like this. perhaps someone with more expreience in that area will have a better answer. flashing the bios is worth a shot, but don't do it if you're not comfortable. wait for someone else to make a suggestion.

Sleeps with the Fishes
Drivers won't kill half of your RAM...the card must have been defective. RMA it.

Its not a new card. I had it for 4 or 5 months in my old computer. The only 2 options I see now are flash the bios something I have no clue how to do with a video card. The other trash it and buy another.

Got it working right again.I unistalled the drivers and shut down the pc. After off I reset the CMOS memory and restarted. It showed 128mb once again loaded old drivers and no more problem. Still not real sure what caused this but atleast I can put off buying a new one for now. Want a 9800pro just not right now.

My vision is improving!
does it boot up with 64mb ram? if half the ram is gone, then its a 64 bit one now and the ultra overclocked will probably be as fast as my fx5200 at stock due to losing half the ram bandwith. dont throw it away, sell it to me or someone else and get some of the money back man!

Oh its fixed now. I just got an 11758 2001 score. My best yet. Now the second highest for that card. score here Something in the bios got messed when I installed the new drivers. Back on the older drivers its running fine after clearing the MB CMOS memory.

Err, no Tbird, 64bit datapads doesn´t cause half the ram to dissappear, and also even if the card would have somehow lost half the ram it wouldn´t change the bandwith, just like the 9500->9700 *hack* never *changed* the card from a 128bit datapad to a 256 one, it either had it but didn´t *really* used it (castrated core didn´t had a use for the extra bandwitdh, it was there but wasn´t needed), the bandwith depends on the fisical layout of the card and it cannot change that way .
Peace.
[Edit] BTW Zy, but is that a crazy FSB speed or what?, WOW 250MHz... neat[/Edit]

look somewhere else for your
problem, the bios can not be changed with a driver upgrade, impossible. two completely different animals.
my radeon 9700 Pro sucks eggs big time with the drivers that came with it, pixelations, colored squares, etc, you name it, as soon as i upgrade to the newest cats, she runs fine.
i have pulled a 19,400+ with this card in 3DMark 2001, and, no, i am not a Mark Whore, so you won't see the score posted in their database.
as far as half the memory goes, it is a very strange occurance, very strange.
baldy
I am gettin too old for all this st.ff!
Specs? it runs.................

Not bad... #2 in any category is nothing to sneeze at!
