    Best video editing software - miniDV

    I have Ulead VideoStudio....but i know there has to be better programs...i know of Final Cut pro for macs, i heard there may be a pc version...but i dont know....are there any other programs that you would recommend? prices not an issue- just best overall program. thanks!

    How experienced are you?

    I use and love windows movie creator 2, but I would only consider it a midrange editing solution.

    If you are going for a more professional program, consider adobe premiere or vegas 4.0 made by Sonnic.

    well, i just edit for my own purposes off and on for about a year or so...and i am getting bored with ulead...and want something that will allow me to do more.

    No problem. The 2 programs I mentioned, again are profession programs that will take time to master.

    I had trouble when I tried the free demo version of vegas video.

    I really am quite happy with microsofits program, which is free by the way if you have windows xp. You might wanna try that one out, but I don't know if it has any supierer options than the original uled program that you used.

    The only issue I had when I used Windows Movie Creator (version 1.x anyway) was that I couldn't copy it back to the camcorder; the program's options were to just capture the video and store it as a file. This might have been fixed in v.2, but I don't know.
    And the only problem with the professional suites is the professional price!
    What we ended up using was the one by Pinnacle, which worked okay; no real "Flare" to it, but it got the job done.
    I ultimately ended up selling the camcorder to a friend, as I didn't have to time to use it...Oh well.

    VirtualDub is free and a nice yet simple video editor.
    Premiere is usually the PC professional editor of choice.
    Vegas video is really good, though when I used it it was kinds buggy, may be fixed now.
    Pinnacle Studios also has a good video editor that you might want to check out.

    It is fixed in v2. I haven't used the feature though...

    I use both Pinnacle Studio 8 for small jobs and Premiere 6 for the big ones. Premiere takes longer to learn, but does everything and has loads of transitions and effects.
