Best quality display, in a 19" CRT

I made a post in the hardware forum, and then noticed this area. =/ Well, in any case.. I'm looking for the best quality 19" CRT monitor for $600.00 or less. Primary concern is the monitor, not any extras that are built-in. Best performance, reliability, user satisfaction.

Oh, and does havin DVI matter? I have an ATI Radeon 9700 PRO video card.

    I love my 19" SyncMaster 955 DF.

It is not the best, but it is good enough for me.

The FP912SB-BK or the Samsung 900NF. Those are the two best 19" monitors you can buy. Both under 600.

I thought Samsung had discontinued the 900NF monitors.

I could not find it anywhere in Calgary.

Well, may Vancouver has it, I will look for it for my other rig.

Which 22" model by NEC are you refering to? Or do they just have one? Also, what would the model be for 21" I haven't looked yet, it may be that they only offer one model for the larger crts?

It is discontinued, but there are still tons around, and are still under warrenty and have full support. Samsung just isn't making any more. I have no clue why, I have the 900NF, and I love it, dont see any problems with it, its a beautiful monitor.

UPDATE: Well, I did a little research, as I was curious as to the Discontinuation of the 900NF, and I think I figured it out.

The replacement of the 900NF is the 900IFT. They are pretty much the same monitor, the only difference is the max resolution and the power consumption.

The good about the 900NF: Max res - 2048x1536 75Hz
The bad about the 900NF: Power consumption - 150W

The good about the 900IFT: Power consumption - 110W
The bad about the 900IFT: Max res - 1920x1440 64Hz

Apparently they didnt like the high power consumption of the 900NF so replaced it with someone of a more efficient, neutered model.

UPDATE2: Upon more research... it appears the 900IFT is the Shadow Mask variant/replacement of the 900NF. It uses Dynaflat Tech, so its not a true flat like the 900NF, and it's shadow mask while the 900NF is Aperture Grill. It appears the 900IFT is just a very advanced Shadow mask, with lower power consumption. The 900NF appears to be quite a bit better monitor. If you can find the 900NF, get it, but if you have to chooose between the 900IFT and the 912SB-BK, go for the NEC monitor, the 912SB-BK is indeed a better monitor than the 900IFT, the crappy replacement for the awesome 900NF.
