Upgrade the cpu to a 2.4C (has hyperthreading and 800 mhz fsb) and the Abit IC7 if you want to go the intel route, if you go AMD go with the 2500+ barton and the Abit NF7-S but make sure its version 2.0! If you go video card and like to game a lot I would go with atleast a radeon 9800 np or maybe a 9700 pro. I would change the memory to (if you overclock) kingston hyper-x or if you got extra $, corsair XMS. Again I suggested the 2500+ barton and the 2.4C in hopes you would overclock.

First off decide whether you want to go Intel or AMD, and most importantly, how much you have to spend.

im thinking of staying with intel. my max supported fsb is 533mhz on this motherboard. the last thing i want to do is upgrade my motherboard though since im not using it to its fullest capability yet, i guess the money can be better spent on another area, like cpu or hard drive for example. any hard drive suggestions?

CPU and mainboard kinda go hand-in-hand. It's no good you going to a b-type P4.

Get some new, fast hard drives. Possibly a video card if you game heavily, but I think you'll get a huge performance boost out of a pair of 80GB WD 'SE's, or 8MB cache maxtors. Even one would be great.

Dont go AMD or Hyper threading than you will need both a motherboard and CPU change.

If your board supports 533fsb just buy a faster P4 "B" CPU.
