HELP! I need help getting this HP Pavilion running!???

I got this HP Pavilion 513w sitting here and I had to put a clean install of WINXP Home SP1 on it after it got hit by the worm. The computer came with no backup or restoration CD. The Owner bought it from walmart as is. Anyways How do I get the drivers for the Sound and Video? They arent on HP's website and I cannot find out exactly what the onboard video is. Can someone help me get a hold of the drivers I need even if someone has them and can send me them?

    THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!

    Mark

Download aida32. It'll probably give you all the info you need to find the drivers. I usually do this First and make an extra but small partition to store the drivers on.

Take a look at the mobo and see if you can figure out who makes it. SANDRA should also tell you. You could then try the drivers from the mobo manufacturer.
If all else fails you could just get a cheap video card and use that instead of the onboard video. Also, Windoze update should list drivers for your sound card, maybe even video too.

If he put XP on there, it would have destroyed HP's recovery console partition already.

You can order another set of recovery CD's from HP for only 10 bucks. If you want to be a real jerk about it, it's HP's policy to send the CD's for free if you escalate to tier 2 and throw a fit at them.

Just a tip from a (former) HP support agent...

    r u sure?

I thought the partition in hp hdd is FAT. Which you can't red, and it is locked with high encryption.

and when you restore or clean install the OS, it should not distroy the partition. Becaues hp programed that way, unless you do it manually.
