half life: blast pit

On Half life in the blast pit, on your way back up through the testing area (where the three claw-thingys are) after you've turned on the oxygen and fuel, is there any way to get past the claws with only 3 grenades? You need them to go up ladders and stuff, so am I screwed?

n/m...i did it, but when i got up to the room with the test controls I found that the power wasn't on

That must have been one of the most nervracking parts in the game. Save & load MANY times.

grenades arent required, I've made it past the part both ways w/o using a single one

(took me a WHILE to do, it was one of those self-challenge deals when you get bored of the game and try to do things differently... you know, like those crazy bastards who beat every Resident Evil game in under 2 hours using only the knife.)

Just keep trying at it. Eventually the thing will take a wrong move and you'll get through.

lol I had to play that level with a P233 and a Voodoo1 :-P
