changing partition letter for new harddisk

    Hi,

I upgraded one of my older machine and added a second harddisk

the old one was a 40GB with 2 partitions 10GB for system the "c" and the other one for programs and data the logical "d"

the problem is when I added the second harddisk the system forced it to be "d" and gave the old "d" the e: ..and so since all programms were installed on d (the old logical partition) now nothing is working cos the new d is empty...

I am using winxp pro... and I dont want to install the programs again everytime I swap a harddisk

any ideas how to solve this problem or change hardisk names??

it is strange now like this

    hardisk1 : c: and e:

    harddisk2: d:

You should be able to change that under Administrative tools/Computer Management/Disk Management/ just right click on the disk/partition that you want to change and choose "change drive letter and paths".
